On the Blog:
A review of A Place at the Table by Susan Rebecca White
Pics from my Harry Potter vacation! (Soooo fun!)
Read:
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
Justice League Vol. 1 Origin by Geoff Johns
The Frangipani Hotel by Violet Kupersmith
I abandoned American Saint by Joan Barthel. I really think it was just bad timing. I'm in some sort of slow reading phase right now. I needed something a bit more lively and American Saint suffered because of it.
Currently Reading:
Below Stairs by Margaret Powell
Upcoming:
I'm drowning in ARCs! I have no idea what I'll read next. I'm very much into reading based on my mood this year. It's kinda awesome.
Other Business:
I wanted to participate in the Bloggiesta but I've been too stinking busy this weekend. Bah. Are you guys and gals getting a bunch of stuff done on your blogs? Maybe I'll be able to unofficially make some headway on my constant to-do list?
This Week in the Blogosphere:
Check out some fab nonfiction recommendations from Kim at Sophisticated Dorkiness.
Want to learn how to streamline your blog and make your pages ultra-attractive?
You have to read this post by April of The Steadfast Reader.
Did you read anything amazing this week? I hope so!
That is a stack my dear! I don't feel like mine looks quite so crazy :) I need to get myself a copy of California, the more I hear about that book, the more desperate I am to read it...I just need to get through the rest of these! I'm totally mood reading lately, too, though and I'm loving it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even had a chance to get my sticky notes on there, as you can see! California was sent to me accidentally instead of Frog Music, lol. (She ended up sending Frog Music too, after we figured it out.)
DeleteThat is one big upcoming reads pile! I think Bread & Butter looks interesting, but I think you should just let yourself pick on a whim when you finish your current read :)
ReplyDeleteI'm wildly in love with the cover of Bread & Butter too. It's gorgeous :D I hope the insides are just as lovely!
DeleteReally want to know what you think of Below Stairs!
ReplyDeleteSo far it's good. She's got a funny way about her, especially when comparing modern times to those that came before. (We wouldn't get away with that now...that sort of thing, very funny) It's hilarious because the book came out in '68 so the "modern times" aren't quite modern now ;)
Delete'The Classic Kitchen Maid's Memoir That Inspired Upstairs, Downstairs and Downton Abbey' - I'm intrigued! I look forward to your thoughts on that one.
ReplyDeleteI see you aren't at a loss as to what to read next - that's some stack of ARC's!
:-)
Bits & Bobs
I'd heard of Below Stairs somewhere. When I saw it on the library shelf I snatched it up! :D
DeleteYour HP pics made me sooo jelly. Also, that's a good lookin' stack of ARCs!
ReplyDeleteWe had such a grand time there! :D If you find yourself in need of a vacation it's the place to go!
DeleteWhat a great stack of books! I've been enjoying Bloggiesta and was able to clear my weekend for it. Of course, I never make as much progress as I think I should!
ReplyDeleteJoy's Book Blog
Normally I love to participate in Bloggiesta but I just had too much going on in my "real" life darn it!
DeleteHoly cats, that is one ginormous stack of books! That should keep you busy for a couple of hours ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, a couple of hours for sure! See why I need to set up a Little Free Library??
DeleteDrowning in books?! YAAAAAY!!!
ReplyDeleteBelow Stairs sounds really good. :)
Wheeeee! Drowning in books wouldn't be the worst way to go would it?
DeleteI'm enjoying it so far! I hope to really get a chunk of it read tonight :D
I have One Night in Winter coming to me soon - excited to read it for TLC!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm on a tour for that one. Oh for pete's sake...I'd better check my schedule, lol. My brain is absolutely broken since vacation!
DeleteI'm drowning in ARCs too, so I know how you feel! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteToo many books...what a first world problem we have ;) Thanks, same to you!
DeleteI read BELOW THE STAIRS. LOVED it. I hope you are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteWow on your stack of books.
THANKS for your update.

My Blog
It's great so far, Elizabeth! I'm so interested in that whole world :D
DeleteMe too. I visited a home in Scotland that they use for tours. The kitchen was amazing, and they had those bells that the master would ring so the "kitchen help" would know where that particular person was. :)
DeleteIt was VERY authentic and I believe from the actual home way back when. :)
ENJOY!!
So cool! I'd love to see something like that! :D
DeleteThat's a GIANT stack of books! But really, there's no such thing as too many, right? Thanks for the shoutout. :)
ReplyDeleteNo such thing ;) There is, however, such a thing as too little time! ;) You're super welcome!
DeleteAlso I'm interested in what you thought about The Frang... Hotel.
ReplyDeleteReview has been written and scheduled. Hmmm...can't remember for what day, lol. Friday! I think?
DeleteLovely stack of Upcoming Books! I am a huge Downton Abbey fan so I am looking forward to your review of Below Stairs!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading,
Rebecca @ The Key to the Gate
