Well, lookee here. I kinda read a lot this month. I didn't expect that since I read a few chunksters and have been busy with school. I guess this goes to show that I will let NOTHING GET IN THE WAY OF MY READING! (Except for those months when I get sucked into some series on Netflix.)
Picking favorites is so HARD. But I'll do it. For you. I hope you're happy!
My favorite nonfiction was The Worst Hard Time. I should really stop complaining about the amount of snow we're buried under. It could be dirt. The people who lived through that time are heroes. Seriously.
My favorite fiction was Shotgun Lovesongs. It's raw, it's real, and it's like a love letter to my home state. Beautiful!

Shotgun Lovesongs was definitely my second favorite this month, totally loved that book. I so want to know more about the possible Bon Iver connection!
ReplyDeleteHooray! I hope he writes more and more books set here. :D I did a bit of research into that connection. There wasn't much of one, lol. They are from the same town but hadn't spoken in eons. Still...great book!
DeleteThe Worst Hard Time is on my reading list. I read Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse also about the dust bowl and could practically taste the dust. One of these days.

DeleteLots of new titles up there for me. Enjoyed Wake too, even with the ending, which I know didn't bother you at all, lol. Divergent and Insurgent are my favorites for February!

DeleteWow, that is a lot of reading! I read bits of Hyperbole and a Half, but didn't finish before I had to return it to the library. I really need to get it out again.

ReplyDeleteI read a novel by Jane Green this past week and was a bit iffy about it. I didn't really like it until I was about half way through. It was my first experience reading one of her novels but I think I'd like to give another a go...

It turns out we both read the same book however they have different titles, I think maybe US and UK, I'm not too sure because I read it as The Accidental Husband. Anywho, how was your reading experience with the book?

Why, oh why do they do that different title thing?? It confuses us readers! :D I do think the UK title is more fitting. It was a decent book. I liked the plot better than the writing.
DeleteI actually wrote that in my notes, preferring the plot concept over the execution of it. I think I'll try one of her earlier books next because I hear better things about those.
DeleteI agree with the title thing, this is my second book this year that has a title change for UK and US readers.

ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out your Shotgun Lovesongs review. I know it hasn't been as big of a hit with other readers as it has been with me. I think the setting really swayed me. It reads so realistic to life in my neck of the woods :D
