Other than that? It might be time to start requesting books from the library again! I've been such a good little reader. I've cleared a lot of spaces on my shelves and I've cut down on review commitments. I'm very much looking forward to reading WHAT I want. Hooray!
Bloggish/Bookish Business:
I hope you guys have a fab week! Thanks a million for stopping by here, you rule.
I loved reading the Giver and your daughter gave a great review of it. I have The Signature of All Things on my wishlist. I just got The Wedding Gift this week and haven't read it yet, but can't wait. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI had to gobble it up right after she did :D Such a great book! The Signature of All Things is amazing, go get it! :D
DeleteFeel better!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have a new policy for myself: just say no (to drugs of course, but really this just say no is for book pitches).
-Rebecca @ Love at First Book
Yup, just say no. Sounds like the perfect policy to me :D Thanks girl, I feel better already. I'm mostly just tired now...zzzzz.
DeleteHope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on cutting down on review obligations etc. I've been the opposite kind of reader - I've been ignoring commitments in order to read what I want, when I want to.
Thanks Sam :D
DeleteReading what I want, when I want to is my GOAL so good for you!
So proud of you with clearing your shelves! I've totally been in the same boat with no review commitments, and I'm pretty much done with mine, too. It feels really nice. I'm SO looking forward to December, which I've cleared out as my no review copies reading month.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome isn't it?
DeleteI love your idea for December! That's a really good idea. That's a busy month as it is..great month to pick.
Oh, I'm a total baby when I'm sick too. I take advantage of it while I can, I'm sure I won't always be able to "indulge" by spending all day in bed. Feel better!
ReplyDeleteI need to get myself a little bell for the next time I'm sick ;) Thanks Charleen!
DeleteAwww, I hope you get over your cold! I'm a big wuss when I'm sick too. (And really cranky, or so I hear.)
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of the new Elizabeth Gilbert book?
Thanks :) I'm a big jerk while I'm ill as well. Blech! Thankfully this wasn't a bad cold. Whew!
DeleteOh, I thought it was GLORIOUS Sarah. Glorious, for real.
Elizabeth of York looks interesting. We have colds running through our house too. Sucks. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to cracking that one open Greg :) I hope you and yours are healthy soon!
DeleteSorry you are sick :( Love that review from your daughter! Be proud! Get better soon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches Heather :D I'm going to go take a nap any minute, that always helps.
DeleteI'm so sorry you're sick, I am a huge baby when I'm sick...ugh. I never seem to get to the older books I've bought or been sent. E galleys get me in much trouble, because I have a finite time to read them...grrr. Enjoy reading what you want.
ReplyDeleteI used to feel the need to read every book that came into my house. NO MORE DARN IT. ;) I'm trying to be a lot pickier and smarter about the way I read. I've learned a lot this past year. :D
DeleteAll these books look interesting, especially the Civil War book. I am reading The Giver with my 15-year-old now. It's one of my favorite YA novels. I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSteph
I'm almost done with Don't Bring Me Down to Hades Steph, it's very interesting! I'm learning a lot. :D How cool that your'e reading that book with your kiddo at nearly the same time that I did the same!
DeleteI meant Don't HURRY Me Down to Hades ;)
DeleteAww... there does seem to be a bug floating around. Few of my colleagues are also down with something nasty. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteUh oh! Stay healthy Athira :) Luckily this didn't turn out to be a brutal cold...whew!
DeleteAw, sorry about the cold. Hope you get over it quickly. Love the little whatchacallit from Ferris Beuller. I need to put that Elizabeth Gilbert book on my wish list. Saw your comment about it being "rich" on Goodreads and between that word and the description, I'm sold.
ReplyDeleteThanks :D
DeleteYes! I hope you do read the new Gilbert. I was blown away by it!
Get well soon, or as we say in The Netherlands: Beterschap!
ReplyDeleteThe book by Alison Weir looks great, it is a new one?
Have a great week, kind regards,
Beterschap! I love that :D Thank you!
DeleteYes, that's an upcoming Weir. I'm excited to read it
Let's hear it for clearing the shelves! Have fun at the library. ;-) Sorry to hear about your cold; I hope you feel better soon. I really enjoyed your daughter's review of The Giver.
ReplyDeleteHooray for shelf clearing! It's been grand :D
DeleteThanks so much Lark!
Well done, Young Relentless Reader! I remember when my son read The Giver. He too wanted to talk to someone about it. He pressed it into my hands and told me I had to read it 'now'.
ReplyDeleteSenior Relentless Reader: Did you see Kevin Smith's reaction when his daughter performed with her rock band? Funny, but slightly more than PG-13 rated!
Thanks so much :D That's exactly why I had to read it right when Avery was done.
DeleteI haven't seen that, lol, I'll have to do a Youtube hunt!
Hope you feel better soon, Jen! Looking forward to your review of the Elizabeth Gilbert book!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear :D The Gilbert was GRAND Melinda...so so good!
DeleteThen I can't wait to read my copy!
DeleteI have never read a book by Alison Weir, but I'm thinking I must. Enjoy your week! Here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I have? Maybe? LOL, my memory is AWFUL ;)
DeleteI have a cold too :( Hope you feel better soon! I think it's awesome you had your daughter write a review--what a great way to get her involved with literature! Elizabeth of York sounds great--I've read lots about the Henry VIII and Elizabeth I but never about Elizabeth of York!
ReplyDeleteBoo to colds! I hope you're feeling better! Thanks, I was so glad to turn the blog over to Avery for a day. I hope she'll do it again :D
DeleteBoo! I hope you feel better soon! Those kids are handy for helping a sick mama, you know. Send them out to bring you back some tea, ice cream, and a big stack of library books! :)
ReplyDeleteI keep telling the kids that that is exactly why I had them, so they could wait on me ;) They aren't buying it!
DeleteAw, I hope you feel better soon! I'm a little bit buried under books I've agreed to review at the moment (it might be silly that I'm just realizing this, but it's so much easier to get approved for non-fiction ARC's than YA!), but hopefully I'll be a good blogger this month and eliminate that pile :)
ReplyDeleteI've never realized how much easier nonfic is to get approved for. But that's probably because I very rarely read YA, lol. Good luck on your pile!!!
DeleteI'm still so excited about your daughter reviewing a book :) Like mother, like daughter, right?
