The Relentless Wrap-Up 08/11/13

Reviews:

The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro

Whistling Past the Graveyard by Susan Crandall

The Wicked Girls by Alex Marwood

Read:

Pastrix by Nadia Bolz-Weber

Let Him Go by Larry Watson

Little Century by Anna Keesey

The Kings and Queens of Roam by Daniel Wallace

Abandoned:

Crazy Rich by Jerry Oppenheimer ~ I really wanted to like this one (of course) but it was reading like an article in The Enquirer. Gossip without substance. But if I'm in the mood for something along those lines I might pick it up again. Maybe?

Currently Reading:

Son of a Gun by Justin St. Germain

Upcoming:

Cartwheel by Jennifer duBois

Bloggish/Bookish Business:

Good stuff coming up! I'll be part of a fun feature called Bloggers Made of Awsome on Traveling with T August 14th and I'll be guest posting for at JulzReads on Friday the 16th.

I'M TAKING OVER THE INTERNET!
Have a great week you reading maniacs! Love ya to bits!

  2. I'm on the tour for Son of a Gun and Cartwheel, so I'm picking those up soon too! Bummer about Crazy Rich...you could try Empty Mansions if you wanted something in the same arena but not so gossipy.

  11. I feel disappointed when I ditch a book, but it's also empowering. Hope the upcoming books are better than the abandoned one.

    1. I think it's the sign of a mature reader, being able to put something aside that isn't speaking to you :D

  12. CAN'T WAIT to hear your thoughts on Pastrix! I love her.
She blogs over at patheos.com and posts her sermons there as well, if you're wanting more. And remember the sermon after the Aurora shooting? That's on there, too (search for "defiant alleluias").

    1. Thanks Bettina :D They are called gifs. There's quite a debate on how that is pronounced though, lol. I say gif with a hard g. Some people pronounce it like jif the peanut butter ;)

  17. I just put The Perfume Collector on hold at our local library; totally amazed they even have it! Good for you for giving up on a book which disappointed you. It's taken me years to learn that necessary skill.

    1. Wonderful, I hope you like it!

When I was younger I thought it was a personal failing if I didn't finish every book I started. How ridiculous is that? Now I know better. If something isn't speaking to me I set it aside. There are too many great books out there to waste time on the less than wonderful.
