The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 19th and runs through Sunday, August 25th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 8.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team
This will be my very first Bout of Books. Yay me! I was wooed by the words LOW-PRESSURE.
Have you ever participated? Will you be this time around?
I didn't know it but I think I will participate because I recently try another readathon and it was a failure because I couldn't read at all :((
ReplyDeleteSo I have to catch up!
Well there you go then! This will be a great way for you to catch up :)
DeleteLow pressure is excellent. Professor Chang and vasoline? Also excellent.
ReplyDeleteIt's a whole lot of excellence, woot woot!
DeleteI did this in May, and it was a lot of fun. This time around it falls on an awkward week for me... my husband's 30th birthday is that Tuesday and we might be having out of town guests that weekend. Oh well. Guess this is where that "low-pressure" thing comes in.
ReplyDeleteYep, low-pressure! You can do whatever in the heck you want so you might as well still join in the fun :D
DeleteI've participated in the last couple Bout(s?) of Books but the timing on this one is bad for me—just returning from a road trip and it's the first week of the semester (a busy time at work for me). Bummer! Hopefully I can join again for the fall/winter bouts.
ReplyDeleteAh rats. Understandable though! Next time :)
DeleteI participated in the last one and loved it! Also joining in this time. Definitely jump into the Twitter chats. They're the best :D
ReplyDeleteThey are fun but WHOA! Makes me wish I had known about Bout of Books before it became such a huge event.
DeleteI haven't done this one, but I do love read-a-thons! Unfortunately I'm out of town for this one, but maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine reading more than I already do but I'm hoping to meet some new folks ;) Next time Melissa!
DeleteSounds fabulous! I hope you get a ton read :) Now that I know about this I will plan on it for next year, hopefully. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI think this one is a few times a year, stay tuned! ;)
DeleteYou know, I think I'm going to do it! I was leaning towards not, since I think I already read as much each week as I can and still be a responsible grad student. However, seeing all these bloggers I know hopping on board has reminded me that I'll definitely enjoy the blogger interactions even if I'm not able to beat my typical amount of reading :)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I'm thinking about, the interactions :) I hope you do it!!
DeleteHOOOOORAYY!!!!! It's so much fun :)
ReplyDeleteYou're post spurred me to join girly so it had better be fun! ;) Ha ha!
DeleteI'm in, too! My post will go up on Friday. Woot!
ReplyDeleteOh good! I feel like I'm joining the cool kid club! :D
DeleteI did the last one, so this will be my second. It's falling on teachers' first week of school for me, but I plan on working my butt of at school and relaxing at home! Besides, the Twitter chats are full of great connections! Make sure you do the Twitter chats!
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly looking forward to all of the extras. Not that the reading won't be great but I do plenty of that, lol. I'm glad you're participating too!
DeleteVery tempted. I'm effectively readathoning at the moment as I have lots of books to get through, but it's just not the same when you're by yourself. I like the week-long time, too, less pressure maybe leading to more books read.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much what I've been doing as well so I figured I might as well make it official! :D
DeleteHave fun! I tried last year, but failed big time...lol.
ReplyDeleteLOL Naida ;) I'm going to give it a whirl, wish me luck!
DeleteI've never been very successful with read-a-thons, but I might give this one a shot!
ReplyDeleteThis one is so easy peasy...from what I can tell anyway. I don't need pressure but I can always use an excuse to read a bit more each day ;)
DeleteOMG Already?! I have to go check it out. I was not prepared.
ReplyDeleteGo go! Hurry and sign up :)
DeleteThis is actually my week off from teaching, too, so I think I'm joining in!
ReplyDeletePerfect timing!! :D I hope you do join!
DeleteYes! I had so much bookish and nerdy fun last time I can't so no to joining in again. Plus with all the extra reading time I have with the whole living alone thing, I should be able to devour a few books. I hope you have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteGreat!! I'm glad to hear that you're joining in :) It should be a hoot!
