It's Monday already?! Whew, this week zipped by at a crazy pace.
Read and Reviewed:
(Click on the link to see what I thought)
Only 2 mini reviews this week. My excuse? I'm in the middle of a giant chunkster of a book right now.
Other Blogging Bits:
(A semi-regular feature in which I share books that I loved before I was a blogger)
I joined in the RIP event hosted by Stainless Steel Droppings AND The Literary Others: An LGBT Reading Event hosted by Roof Beam Reader.
I posted some fun Lit Bits (I love these!) and I stumbled upon a fantastic new blogging community for Midwestern book bloggers!
Current and Upcoming Reads:
I'm in the very middle of Gone With the Wind for the read along at Fanda ClassicLit. I'm enjoying every sentence. It's been so long since I first read this and I think I like it even more this time around.
Next up are two library books:
It's my favorite time of year. It's a bit chilly out, the leaves are starting to change and this girl looooves her some jeans and sweatshirts.

Hope you enjoy Mudbound as much as I did. Happy reading
ReplyDeleteI hope so too :) I have a thing for yellow, the book nearly screamed at me from across the library, lol. That's what initially got me, but then I read the synopsis and knew I had to check it out :)
Delete:) Have a wonderful reading week! Whatcha readin' this week @ the Brunette Librarian :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Same to you and thanks for stopping by
DeleteI really must read Gone With the Wind some day! I had considered joining the read along but I don't think I could committ to it right now. I hope you find some great reading time this week! :)
ReplyDeleteHere is what I'm reading this week:

I hope you do get to it one day Bonnie, it's so good! (The first time I read it I was blown away and it was NOTHING like what I expected it to be) I think it would be a great cozy winter read.
DeleteThanks for visiting and commenting :)
Gone with the Wind is a classic chunkster!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Midwestern Book Bloggers link -- off to get registered!
I'm so excited to find out how many of you guys are from the Midwest! :) That list over there is going to grow by leaps and bounds! Thanks for stopping in Joy!
DeleteI will have to read In the Garden of Beasts - I loved Devil in the White City but Thunderstruck creeped me out really badly!
ReplyDeleteI just checked and Mudbound is available through digital download at my library, I am going to have to read it. I am such a southern history buff.
First They Killed My Father was so personal and moving, very well done.
I really need to read Larson's other stuff! I'm really looking forward to both of my library books this week, I keep hearing great things about both of them.
DeleteThe weather is great right now! The windows are all open, I had my first pumpkin flavored drink of the fall, and burned a pumpkin candle. Happy sigh...
ReplyDeleteMudbound sounds great. I am excited to see what you think.
This is by far my favorite time of year Lindsey. Mmmmm to pumpkin ANYTHING! Now I want to bake ;)
DeleteGone with the Wind's a good one. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book this week was Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun by Victoria Laurie. Please come see what I'm reading now.
It certainly is, I'm completely enjoying my reading time right now :)
DeleteI LOVE GWTW! A Study in Scarlett.
ReplyDeleteI'm having such a great time re-reading GWTW. Such a great book!
DeleteI thought Mudbound was fantastic. I hope you love it too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephanie, me too! I'd never heard of it before but now that I've picked it up I keep hearing great things :)
DeleteI thoroughly enjoyed Mudbound...and I'm planning a reread of GWTW. I can't wait to see how I feel now! I read it about three times when I was young.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I wish I had recorded my thoughts about GWTW when I read it the first time. (Around a decade ago) I know I loved it but I think I have a new appreciation for it now that I'm a bit older ;)
DeleteMudbound! I love hearing from all of you how much you enjoyed it. I look forward to it even more now!
So totally jealous of the Gone With the Wind read along! It's been about 18 years since I read it!! I read Scarlett, but I think there was another that I haven't gotten to, Rhett Butler's Women or something. Definitely would be some awesome comfort reading there! Enjoy your week, and yes I am totally digging that evil word verification graphic!! SO annoying it is!!! Thanks for visiting my Monday post.
ReplyDeleteHi Marie, thanks for stopping by :) I'm so happy to be reading GWTW, sigh...it makes me want to make a mint julep, lol.
DeleteI really enjoyed Gone With the Wind when I read it last year - so good! Mudbound is waiting for me on my iphone - I'll eventually get to it! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I picked up Mudbound, somehow it escaped my radar until now. Now that I'm going to be reading it soon I'm seeing that I'm a little late to the party! ;)
DeleteYou read some wonderful books. Have another great reading week!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Monday post!!
Thanks Gautami, I sure try to! ;)
DeleteI'm actually going to start "Gone with the Wind" in the very near future! I wish I knew about this Read-A-Long, but I will add it to my list so I can start with the next book.
ReplyDeleteAnd BTW, I can post now! Thanks for adding the name/url link!!!
I haven't been sleeping well since I started GWTW, I keep staying up til 1 or 2am because I can't put it down. Zzzzz..makes for a sleepy Jennifer during the day!
DeleteI don't know exactly what I changed..I think I had to let anonymous comments in or something? LOL, whatev I'm just glad you can comment now!
I love all of your reads this week! Super awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Gone With The Wind is an amazing classic. One of my favs for sure.
Thank you so much for stopping by Between the Bind.
Thanks! I'm very glad to be re-reading GWTW. I loved it back in the day and I love it even more now!
DeleteThanks for visiting!
Gone With The Wind is all-time favorite. I re-read it last spring with the Heroine's Bookshelf.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Fanda hosted a read-a-long because I don't know if I would have read it again. It's so BIG and I've read it before. But I'm thoroughly enjoying spending all of this time in Scarlet's world again :)
DeleteToday totally felt like autumn where I am! It was awesome. Perfect reading weather.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about reading In the Garden of Beasts. And I hear ya on the mini-reviews when you're in a huge book--sometimes the doorstoppers just take over :-)
Perfect reading weather indeed! The sun is shining, there is a nip in the air..sigh, perfection!
DeleteIn the Garden of Beasts was a great read, if you give it a shot I'd love to know what you think
I haven't read Gone with the Wind. I really want to read it but the sheer length of it is giving me second thoughts. Haha. I've seen the movie though.
ReplyDeleteLei, you can do it! Just think of it as TWO books instead of one ;)
DeleteGood for you on reading GWTW...I tend to avoid the chunksters. Mudbound looks interesting and got good comments here. I'll be interested in how you like it.
ReplyDeleteIs it really that orange already where you are?? Beautiful. Happy Reading.
It isn't quite that colorful here yet, but it won't be long and it will be. I have a maple in my front yard that turns bright red, it's my fave!
DeleteThanks for visiting Martha!

DeleteLove the cover of Mudbound, I'll be looking out for your review. It's spring here in Australia and I'm so looking forward to some warmer weather, picnics, beach and all that.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading :)
We've just come out of the beach and picnic season here. I'll miss parts of it but I'm not a fan of hot weather so I always look forward to cooler temps and pretty leaves :)
DeleteI've gotten a good start into Mudbound and it's a great read so far!
